Pros

It showed me the type of leader I did not want to be, and the type of company I did not want to work for.

Cons

Witnessed very unethical behaviors from management (Regional HR manager, to District Manager, to Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers.) Including behaviors/actions as well as verbal commentary. Extremely negative atmosphere, started from the top down (Regional management level and higher and rolled down to the store level.) Lack of efficient training on all levels (from associates due to lack of payroll, as well as to leadership teams due to apathy to invest in their people.) Lack of motivation from higher ups (likely due to too much work load, and again, apathy.) LONG, LONG hours for associates, but especially for salaried employees Low pay, too many projects/tasks, too few payroll hours, with unreasonable expectations of GREAT customer service with almost no associates to do that with. Bad practices in regards to providing or allowing breaks and lunches for store management Did not have a good practice of communicating to associates or even some management that hourly associates should NEVER work after they've clocked out, they need to get paid for ALL the work they do.

Pros

The culture at Kohl's is very inclusive and specifically within the DS organization there is a lot of collaboration of ideas. Depending on your team you will have more of an hands on approach, some days feeling closer to an applied scientist than a data scientist.

Cons

Disconnect between priorities with leadership roles. Salary is not competitive, opportunities for promotions are limited regardless of your deemed performance by your direct manager.
