Pros

The pay is good. If your store performs well the previous year, you get a nice % increase. The benefits are okay. They did just increase the level they'll match on your 401K and change the time it takes to be vested. Now you are vested right away. The Kohl's Perks are nice, but don't get a lot of attention by the company. Associate Shop Days with the double discount is a very nice money saver especially when combined with a pick-a-day coupon.

Cons

Everything else. You work a minimum of 45 hours a week, and that is if you are lucky. Closes are late most nights. Company is very tight with payroll, so you're normally staffed pretty light most nights. With only 3 assistant managers its hard to switch days if something comes up. The push for credit is unrelenting. The company can release planograms but then a district manager can come in and decided they don't like it, so you have to change it. Communication between departments on the corporate level is not always the best, so sometimes the stores will get two different messages from two different levels of the corporate office.

Pros

Pay is very good once you start getting raises. Weekly pay

Cons

Genuinely everything else, the pay is that high because they have to pay you over 25 just to put up with the awful environment. terrible structure, terrible management, no accountability, cliquey mean girl environment. managers are allowed to sit around and do essentially nothing while supervisors carry 100% of the load and there is no checks and balances to ensure management does the right thing. Corporate and HR genuinely don't care if certain people sit on their butt While others keep the business running. Credit card pushing is absolutely Off the Wall insane. Getting enough credit cards is all the company cares about and managers do not help. Managers are allowed to have no history with getting any credit cards at all and corporate doesn't bat an eye. If you try to speak out about anything that's going on you'll just get fired. Retaliation is allowed and encouraged.
