Pros
The job is what you make it! I love having a lot of structure in my classrooms and the first 5 minutes (I think 30 seconds) of each period will determine the behaviors you see. Each campus is different, so you have to adjust to what works. But kokua is super flexible with scheduling which is what I love about them.
Cons
Any downside to kokua is just a downside of working with schools. There are breaks (Christmas break, spring break) which you will have to adjust financially to. Also sometimes I feel they might be over-staffed and there are no shifts to pick up for 1-2 weeks at a time. Felt like I needed a second more consistent job to make ends meet. Also half of the time you don’t know what age group you’re signing up for (I don’t mind it but some people really hate it.) IA the difference between kindergarten and 4th grade is huge. But I think this is more on the schools end than Kokua (I’m not sure).
