Steady hours, stable salary, consistent work. Even if you face downtime, you still get paid for it. On-going company events to build morale within the company. Monthly health and safety meetings.
Cons
Where do I begin? People: your fellow coworkers seem like a great bunch of people to work with, however, it seems that everyone has a hidden agenda. Politics run strong through the veins of these people. Being a part of a union isn't always a good thing. They will not help you as much as you think a union should. As a matter of fact, they will be there representing your disciplinary action versus going to bat for you. Be careful who you "open your doors" to. People here love digging for dirt. Sometimes, the way the majority of the operators act is as if they were to get paid per box. Its silly and quite unprofessional. If you are told you are moving up from Take off to Second Man, and are convinced you are making strides because you are training for it, don't get too excited. This is merely to cover your existing second man when he goes on vacation or is sick. The only way for you to actually move up is via seniority. Someone leaves, dies, or retires. Those are your options. Worklife: Every week, your shift rotates, which is a struggle on its own. It becomes even more difficult when they start placing you on a need-be basis of shift accommodation. 8 times out of 10, this has nothing to do with personal performance, yet, the need of where your schedule deems you to be. When you voice your concern about this, there is proven lash back. Also, do not be surprised by the level of open racism that comes your way, especially if you are Caucasian. Again, if you voice this concern, you happen to receive lash back. The supervisors are only there for stats and personal game. They will smile in your face, take you by the hand, and lead you down a path of misguided advice and pipe dreams of success. They are not there to help. Understand this early. Management is not there for you, they are only there for a pay cheque to ensure that the company looks good. End of story. I am 100% not bitter towards the company, and very appreciative for any opportunity which comes my way. However, facts are facts, and my experience was what it was. Unfortunately, I doubt any part of this organization will ever change. I ended quitting due to lack of support. THE BENEFITS ARE NONSENSE. Coverage isn't the greatest, and make sure you have money when you get your prescriptions. Its on a pay first, submit after repertoire.
