Pros

- Strong job security - Slightly above average benefits - Little responsibility and easy work - Guaranteed to climb the ladder as long as you show up - You get a $25 Walmart gift card every year

Cons

- No true leadership or direction from upper management - Japanese "leaders" are replaced every couple of years so no true level of consistency or department strength is ever established - Departmental segregation (racism) is prevalent and often gets blamed on "the language barrier". - Annual "performance" reviews are laughable and provide zero constructive input to the employees...basically, if you're still with the company since your last review , your "score" goes up regardless of actual job performance. - The culture is just as stale as the office building. - Management/HR claims to support team building activities, but only if the entire department is included (participation trophy mindset). That is, if you want to have an individual team lunch (to build your team, go figure), you'll be expected to foot the bill and make all arrangements. - Full-time engineers are treated as hourly contingents and required to use personal time off for routine medical visits, family emergencies, school functions, etc. - Research & Development practices are severely inefficient. Often times, incomplete designs/drawings are submitted just to appease the leaders across the pond, only to redesign and reorder prototype parts a few weeks later. - Compensation is well below average despite what HR tries to tell you. (Ask anyone who has left, we didn't leave for free). - 2 stalls and 1 urinal get shared by 45+ male associates (no further explanation required) - The roaches in the closet-sized break room will get to your food before you can. - Management makes no effort to keep their team members happy while they're employed, yet focuses all their energy on making the employees' lives miserable when they leave.

Pros

Good opportunity for travel, lots of internal training opportunities, some excellent managers and coworkers

Cons

Top level jobs go to parent company ex-pats who are not necessarily trained or prepared for the job and they are exchanged for a new person every 3-5 years. Extremely complicated processes to get anything done and often changed or short cutted depending on who is involved with project
