MICROMANAGEMENT AT ITS FINEST - Assistant Buyer Kurt Manufacturing Employee Review

Pros

Best part about working at Kurt are the employees. There are a lot of tenured machinists but part of me believes that is solely because they don’t know what else is out there. Either way, the people are great and truly make the company what it is.

Cons

Division Management, specifically at the Machining Division is very much a micromanagement situation. There is a lot of nepotism; the good ol boys club. HR will tell you there’s too much collusion from the floor to management but that doesn’t just happen over night. If you were to look at reviews here or on Indeed the timeline from the last 2 years is fitting for what is happening. Bad leadership = failing between their own four walls. Work environment wise, it is extremely outdated. Management is cheap in what they will put in to the company as far as tools employees need and or just updating the outdated facility. It’s honestly pretty gross. It is not a warm and exciting facility to work in.

Thanks for sharing your experience on Glassdoor. Being employee owned is who we are and why we do what we do. So glad that you agree – our 500 employee company still feels like family!

Pros

It was a decent job. Wasn't great It was better than some jobs I had at the time

Cons

Pay structure still lives in the '80s benefits. Still live in the '80s and they expect you to do lots of work. Pay you very little and treat you like it. You're a child but try to act like it's family. In other words, they're going to not pay you what you're worth Making custodians build boxes when the managers are perfectly capable of doing this or they could get someone else to do this that are skilled at this, especially since we're not even getting paid for that job when the people who that being the managers are getting extra money for building boxes but having us build it. That's BS and are being used as in indentured servitude
