An ok place to work, would not choose it as a career - Seasonal Help L.L. Bean Employee Review

Pros

The best part of working for LL Bean is the employee discount. Overall, it is a good place to find a seasonal job and get a lot of hours for a few weeks.

Cons

The pay is very low, poor communication from managers/leads, it appears that in some departments, younger employees are favored over older ones, although it may be difficult to prove age discrimination. The hiring process is extremely impersonal, and as a seasonal employee, I felt very much like a "number" as opposed to a part of the LL Bean team. LL Bean heavily promotes their "green" workplace but in reality it is yet another case of corporate greenwashing. Aside from LL Bean stamped cardboard boxes which are re-used to ship items among LL Bean locations, nothing is recycled, no procedures are in place for employees to follow any "green" practices, etc. Same goes for safety, LL Bean heavily promotes their worker safety practices but managers/leads either don't notice very obvious safety violations or don't follow through to correct them. Visit "Back-of-house" during a busy day and watch employees climbing shelves and swinging from ladders like monkeys. Insanity!
