Pros

Pay is decent and PTO is good for early career employees. As with most defense contractors the work life balance is great.

Cons

PTO is below average if you are a senior employee since everyone gets the same amount. In my department the "mechanical" work is 99% drafting with no actual analysis. I joined during the merger with Harris and it's been an absolute mess. The onboarding process here is worse than anywhere else I've worked, it took me months to get my required software. They don't use chip badges so you need software tokens for encryption and teleworking which is unnecessarily convoluted and annoying. Laptops are not standard either so teleworking is a remote desktop, again, convoluted and annoying. The drawing practice at my division lacks organization and leaves people asking the engineers where to find drawings when that should be easily available from other drawings. People at my division loudly shout their conservative conspiracy theories as well. I've worked with people with their beliefs before but the culture here alloys them to loudly shout their beliefs which can be very distracting. They also just sold off 10% of the company after the merger.

Pros

Missions are impactful to the world Top talent in specialized fields Wonderful people Respectful environment

Cons

Processes and policies are not robust enough to support the large growth / merger, which leaves everyone operating in silos and interpreting things in their own ways Shared service model is not structured properly Not enough critical thinking around how budgets should be allocated for tools, capital, and salaries Higher level leaders are too in the weeds and not working on the harder strategic aspects Businesses are not aligned with common products to gain best synergies as all businesses fight to defend $s not what actually makes sense for the company (radios sharing same suppliers are in completely different segments; CCAs are built across 10+ different factories managed by different management teams instead of a couple of large COEs) All leaders felt unempowered due to lack of ownership of budgets. Budgets were set but then adjusted at further levels without any additional discussion of new targets and how to achieve. Then budgets would be reallocated a few months into year if you weren't demonstrating that you truly need it. This drove teams to spend heavy up front and not make the smartest decisions at times
