Pros

Very responsive tech support. Immense online training opportunities. Very comprehensive understanding of the work of a hospice chaplain. I've received great personal support from my nurse administrator, social worker, and colleagues. I really appreciate the two day training period with an experienced chaplain at Cape Fear Valley Hospice in Fayetteville, NC

Cons

The training menu, especially for the first day, is not as intuitively clear as it could be. As a 62 year old with average experience with technology, I needed a lot of help to certify that I had completed what I had done. It is a real adjustment for me to chart my visits to hospice patients. I am impressed with how the cloud-based system helps all on the treatment team stay on the same page. I find that, as a "newbie," it takes an hour to "chart" and upload a half hour visit. I'm working on getting that time down and getting more efficient.

Pros

LHC group is a good company to work for. They offered training and support from management. I would say a solid company culture from my experience. I felt supported and checked on by my team.

Cons

Cons depend on the agency you work for. I had a good experience with my location and team.

Pros

Autonomy, days go by quick, expectations are defined.

Cons

Unmanageable workload/cases. Expected to fulfill number of points per week. Charting beyond business hours every day. Start of care visits also included hands on care. One visit took 3 hours because of 8 wounds and that didn’t include documentation. Oasis is tedious and comprehensive. Territory was supposed to be 10 minutes from home; it was not. Sometimes 45 minutes between each case with 5-6 cases for the day. Totally unmanageable for a seasoned and organized nurse. I cannot imagine how it would be for a less experienced nurse. Overworked and overwhelmed my entire time. I learned a lot from training modules but then you’re out on your own to troubleshoot. Unless you’re willing to hustle every single day and are willing to chart during dinner time and then still take time to confirm next day’s appointments, stay away.
