Pros

Great coworkers, most professors were great to work with.

Cons

The work load was very intense and the pay was impossible to make ends meet on. It was in our contract that we weren't allowed to take on other jobs, but I took on babysitting and photography gigs almost every weekend to be able to keep up with rent and other necessary expenses. I was never in the hole, but only because I took on extra jobs.

Pros

Benefits covered 90% of my healthcare needs. The time-off and work-from-home policies were flexible and allowed me to meet my military requirements.

Cons

The salary policy did not guarantee advancement for low-level employees. You are guaranteed a merit raise each year, but you cannot receive a salary raise within the same six-month period. If an Unclassified employee reaches the maximum of their pay scale, they will no longer receive a merit raise. A department supervisor must approve any pay scale increase. The appeal process takes longer than most are willing to accept.
