A Sad Place to Work - Lead Teacher La Petite Academy Employee Review

Pros

Really Nothing. The children and families are wonderful. The problem is that teachers are not allowed to be honest about what happens at the center. The children are moved from room to room based on ratio (teacher to children), teachers are floated in and out to fill spots when management sends teachers home to cut hours.

Cons

Management does not respect staff (at all), the center is profit based oriented, it is very clear that management only truly cares about enrolling as many children as possible and skimping on supplies, teacher salaries, and cutting down as many staff hours as possible per week to keep their expenses as low as possible.

Pros

The kids and families are amazing. It’s so rewarding to go into work and watch a baby learn to walk or a toddler begin to learn their colors and know that I had a part in that. Watching the kids grow and learn was the absolute best part of the job.

Cons

There were a lot of safety concerns. Staff were not all held to the same standard and children were getting hurt because some staff were allowed to slack while others weren’t. I was both parent and staff. My concerns about safety were brushed off by my admin and the district as well. There was favoritism and a lack of training. The pay is also very low. The CEO has never been on the classroom side of childcare and that tells you everything you need to know.
