Pros

Being a semiconductor capital equipment manufacturer challenges and scope for improvements are plenty. Company growth has been significantly great so far, unlike other offshore business we don't work entirely in US shift timing. Certain level of Automation on ERP has taken care of non value added transactions.

Cons

Indian management in operations is being Mismanaged. Group manager doesn't have relevant experience to guide operations particularly Procurement, managers don't usually get freedom to drive the function, Lack of judgement in hiring have led to hiring wrong managers and placement issues causing workload imbalance and overload. To manage with this imbalance group manager has no concerns to work life balance. To cover up the bad metric Indian management diverts the team form critical deliverables to just show improvements in quarterly reviews, The whole operations now knows the fact that delaying or not carrying out these silly tasks given by local management means bad luck with career growth opportunities within the organisation. When it comes to hiring we had highest referrals submitted in early days but due to high rejections we no longer send referrals. Candidates appearing for job interviews are not clear of expectations those who are rejected get selected in other top companies for much higher designation. It is also known that most of the candidates are lured with good salary package to step down from their current designation to handle silly role and tasks.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
