Pros

Great benefits for medical, dental, and vision

Cons

Absolutely no work life balance- management will tell you that it's important but my manager knows I work a 60+ hours a week and weekends and does nothing (I've asked them for help several times). For a company as profitable as Lam, they are extremely conservative when it comes to hiring. Our orders have skyrocketed but our team size remains the same? Meaning that we have triple the workload but the same team size. People are burnt out and could really use some extra team members to even out the workload. Lam says one of their core values is respect but I've never been treated so poorly by my colleagues. Everyone is overwhelmed and stressed- so naturally they try to throw others under the bus. You really need to document every conversation you have, otherwise, people will try to blame you for everything. The pay is not great for the Bay Area. For the complexity and volume of work that I'm doing, I should at least be paid 90k.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
