Pros

Great future for the company. Great products. Great domain (semi conductors). Think for yourself, this is one domain that will never come down. Highly knowledgeable and smartest people in the US (in India the number of such people is in single digits). Profit sharing will always be 100% and sometimes much more. Infra in US is great. Awesome learning with US counterparts. Can't stress enough how smart they are. Good travel opportunities these days for Indian employees. Super work life balance. Getting leaves are easy. Friendly work environment and colleagues. Laptops to all. Software developer can see all SDLC phases as they are the owners.

Cons

Indian management except one or two, are pathetically useless. No future technology wise in the company. If at all, you will go back to old technology rather than move forward. If self driven, can learn the existing software but no scope for any Dev from scratch or anything new. Absolutely no scope for any tech growth (can't stress more) in terms of all the new technologies that are in market now. Days spent here are like being in quick sand. The more you stay the more comfy you get, i.e., sucked in. Your skill set will not grow unless you do anything yourself after work. No growth up the ladder as well, as the people have been here for on an average of 8+yrs. Everyone is set in their places. There are two tech leads in a team of 7 and two additional managers. No scope for any lateral movements to other countries, or to other job roles as well. Very very very very rare. Infra in India is very very pathetic, worse than a public sector bank. Managers make you so self dependent on them that you loose the skill or ability make decisions yourself anymore. You go to them literally for everything. Pay is not great compared to current market conditions.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
