Worst job ever - Over The Phone Interpreter LanguageLine Solutions Employee Review

Pros

I'd like to think there was something positive about my time with language line but I would be lying. Unemployment might actually be a better prospect.

Cons

Everything. The clients being used to cutrate overseas interpreters are often rude and short with you. The staff is terrible towards the interpreters because of either fear of losing their jobs or because of being overworked, underpaid and being under the ever watchful eyes of the creeps in middle to upper management. The pay, even if you're literally working full-time will not be enough to even live modestly unless you have another stream of income. The ever looming culture of fear that management is always willing to cut your hours or fire you for minor offenses like TAKING TIME OFF, even if it's health related. This was the WORST JOB I EVER HAD and that's saying a lot considering I worked as a dog groomer and a pizza delivery driver as a kid. I would honestly rather smell like wet dog/canine anal-gland or get a gun shoved in my face than EVER work for these soul robbing slave drivers. This is literally the worst legitimate job out there. My only advice is to avoid this company at all costs. The only reason i got involved with them was that the company I worked for before was absorbed by LLS.

Thank you for your 5-star review and for the more than one year you have been part of our team in Monterey. We are glad to hear that you feel supported by a well-organized company, as we strive to provide a structured and professional environment for our interpreters. We also appreciate your perspective on same-day assignments; flexibility is often part of the meaningful work we do to support clients when they need language access most. Thank you for the important role you play in delivering quality interpretation services.

Pros

Stay home. That's all. Nothing else.

Cons

Fifteen seconds to recover between stressful calls. The health insurance they offer is super expensive for the poorly paid for hours you get. It does not match. Micromanage everything, constant supervised and not a proper guidance after being pointed the errors of the week. Extreme poorly paid for the higher quality of job that they want. The company charges 3 or 4 dollars for minute, but an interpreter gets paid 15 an hour before taxes. See the difference? Days off unpaid always. Not fair. Not even during sickness, grief or personal emergencies.
