Pros

Deep discounts, good deals, and you get to smoke on the job.

Cons

If you plan on working for this company, beware. Be prepared for backstabbing, backbiting, snobbery, judgemental atmosphere and regular belittle mints who you are in the pipe community. The workplace is rife with xenophobia, corporate cliques, and a well defined class system. If you ever want to make a complaint, you had better have good blackmail material, otherwise the management, you seem to have no backbone, and no qualms about releaving someone of their job for no better reason than to play favorites, you're out. Also, if you don't sit their corporate culture you will also be let go.

Laudisi Enterprises Response

While I obviously don't know what specifics precipitated this review, I will say that we take what we do very seriously and hold ourselves to high standards. We do think of ourselves as the industry elite. We want to work with the best. Does that make us snobs? Perhaps to some. I won't respond to a lot of the specifics because they just don't make much sense, but yes, if you don't fit our corporate culture, and refuse to work within that culture, you're unlikely to thrive at Laudisi. From context, it sounds like we dismissed this individual. We have two routes to dismissal: significant ethical violations (lying, stealing etc) that result in immediate termination, or for things that we'll lump into 'culture'. Culture is a slippery concept, but it's really just an agreed upon set of values and normative behaviors that let people interact in a group (be it a company, a neighborhood, or a polity). Repeated violations of those values tend to lead to social censure or sanction. So, yes, when an employee doesn't fit our corporate culture, we point it out and discuss the problems it might be causing, but if it's not remedied, we ultimately sever the relationship. This is true of every human grouping that has ever been. We want Laudisians to thrive. We want it to be (and it is) a happy work environment, where the lines between work and play blur, where we have fun getting things done, and take joy in doing new, interesting things, improving ourselves and the company in the process. I'm saddened that it did not work out that way for this individual.

Friendly staff, helpful colleagues, great management, hands-on training on pipes, cigars, and tobacco

Cons

None. This is honestly the best job I've ever had, and I've turned down other offers to remain here.
