      Pros

      Collaborative environment. On the operations side, the lab works hard to try to stay up to date with industry, in spite of being a UC/DOE run entity. In terms of careers, successful individuals find their value and create worth through looking beyond immediate work.

      Cons

      Some of the science side of the lab has little or no value for operations and little interest in developing a peer relationship. Salary.

      Pros

      Beautiful location, you oversee the Bay, Golden Gate Bridge and SF. Research environment, great bridge for academics to transition to a more applied research. Benefits quite good

      Cons

      Low wages, especially in the scientific staff. Basically no career progression. Offices are a mixed bags (some departments have brand new buildings, others have very old buildings). Do not rely on their immigration services to get anything beyond temporary work visas.
