Pros
Innovative district with dedicated educational staff.
Cons
Experienced teachers take on the brunt of training all of the new teachers. When pay raises come around, they always use the midpoint, giving the more experienced teachers less of a raise. As a long time employee, I ended up losing money with the rate of inflation but was expected to do more work to help all the new teachers. It was really shameful on the district’s part. -No consequences for bad behavior (kids came back with chips, a sucker, or a toy ball). -Planning time was always encroached on. -Year after year we “unpacked” the TEKS during PLC. That’s great for new teachers, but not so much for veteran teachers. -Far too much encroachment of work life into personal life. -Poor choices by central admin. allowing politically/sexually charged books and socially charged topics into the classroom.
