Pros

Like all places you work there are great people that work at Lear that changed me for the better. I was grateful for the experience of working in a factory and learning that the work was not for me.

Cons

Strikes, Layoffs, poor quality of work, disregard for injury or repetitive motion that would eventually lead to a disabling injury or permanent debilitating pain. A rotating array of occupational clinics because Lear wanted a clinic that ignored injury and sent people back to work. Huge bonuses for the CEO's while workers were asked for concessions including benefits and pay.

Pros

Great benefits, wonderful campus, free Starbucks daily (as of 7/2026), pay is competitive, benefits are great, unlimited PTO (within reason, switches to short term or long term disability at some point) flexible schedule (manager heavily influences this) people actually do get promoted from time to time unlike other places.

Cons

As with every job, it will have some cons. But still worth it if you get the opportunity: It’s a large place and everyone’s experience is different. You can end up in a bad department or with a bad manager, and you’re kind of stuck unless you can transfer out. People don’t really retire from here. You usually get to 50’s or 60’s and they cut you a buy out check, and if you’re not ready to retire, you’re going to be 50-60 in the job market again. They’ve had a hiring freeze on for a long time, so anyone new is going to be an intern or co-op. So if your department is skeleton crew, it’s gonna be that way unless you want a 20 year old on your team that could be great,.. or not so great. Everybody gets the same yearly raise depending on performance, and it doesn’t really keep up with inflation. Your best way up is a promotion.
