Pros
Lee does issue paychecks on-time and they offer health, dental, and vision insurance. You also receive a complimentary newspaper subscription. Co-workers are mostly decent, hard-working people who just happen to be stuck working for the same godawful company as you.
Cons
The other negative reviews tell the story. Lee does not value it's employees whatsoever. As an employee you are regarded on the same level as office supplies, or maybe even a bit lower. They are an implausibly clueless and rudderless organization and upper management had no real clue about what it is doing. I shudder to think what nightmare scenario the contributor of the five-star "Great Company" review must have endured prior to getting in with Lee (if it wasn't a fake review to begin with). At the local business unit where I worked there was a noticeable culture shift over the past decade from it being a decent place to work which believed in there value of reporting news for the community to now being a toxic hellhole solely concerned with generating revenue. No raises for the working class for over five years but $500,000 - $700,000 annual bonuses for the top brass tends to make folks a tad bitter. While I cannot speak for the management at all of the local business units I can say that the corporate management group seems to be solely concerned with trying to fill their golden parachutes while the rest of the company circles the drain once and for all. Do yourself a favor and perform some internet research on these clowns first. Last Best News captures a good deal of the companies mismanagement if you search for Lee Enterprises or Mary Junck. Avoid this company at all costs!
