Pros
LegalZoom is a great company with a noble mission. The CEO, COO and CFO have a clear vision that they are effectively communicating to the rest of the organization. There are great talented employees working in all departments.
Cons
I work in Tech, and you too will love it if the following points resonate with you: . the leadership team does not know what they are doing and keep changing directions every other day. They call it being Agile . the leadership team dictates more than it leads, and rarely covers the “why”. Should probably be renamed to “dictatorship team” . the leadership team has no interest listening to your opinion. They know what ’s best. . playing politics is more important than getting things done . your performance is measured by the Agile velocity/points of your Team (the dont’s of Agile 101) . velocity is in your MBO, which means that you are incentivized to inflate it to get your bonus, and yet the true throughput of the Team remains constant at best. Leadership knows that, but doesn’t try to address it. . employee satisfaction is in your MBO. How honest are you going to be when you fill out the survey, considering that your bonus depends on your answers, and the survey isn’t anonymous at all (we can tell who’s who based on the first handful of questions)? . every initiative aimed at increasing productivity and getting the job done is scrutinized and goes through layers of vetting and approvals before anything can be done. And often times, nothing ends up being done. . ego is a major problem within the leadership team . morale is at an all time low despite what the employee satisfaction says . micro management is a common practice . leadership is consistently failing at understanding what the CEO means when he says “you’re all here because you’re very good at something”, and keeps treating employees like pawns
