Pros
Other companies wanting to solve their hiring issues or poor morale need to take a page from Lemonade! -Values and mission statement are honestly reflected in every single aspect and person within Lemonade. -Benefits from day one. Not just health/dental/vision but also ongoing monthly benefits. -Transparency!! You get to know "why" behind everything; not just blindly told to do something -You get stock in the company, which makes you give a damn about things. -Laptop, work from home stipend -SUPER SUPPORTIVE FROM ALL TEAMS AND PEOPLE - I have never been somewhere that you can ask all the questions and get answers and feedback without feeling dumb or like you are bothering someone -Huge focus on mental health -PTO -Sick days -AUTONOMY! I feel like an adult and real human for the first time in.... *shrug* Lemonade hires personality, values, and passionate people who aren't necessarily from an insurance background or fit within a Taleo survey results metric before even considering to speak to someone. , I work with some of the best and brightest people I have ever encountered! I spent 20 years in F&B/hospitality before COVID changed everything, so when I say they hire for passion and personality, they def do! Even though it is a tech-focused company, there is truly and heart, soul, and real people behind the beauty of the data and the technology infrastructure. Lemonade truly wants you to be successful and gives you so many tools to help you - both professionally and personally. I never EVER thought that I would working in insurance - let alone THE Insurtech frontrunner, and I am grateful that Lemonade has given me a chance. I came in, knowing nothing except that I believe in Lemonade and their business model as a happy policyholder. Several months in, I am confident in my knowledge of the insurance product I work in, and get to learn and be supported every. single. day. Overall, I feel super appreciated and I look forward to continuing and building a future and a career with Lemonade!
Cons
***Some of these are getting nitpicky in the day to day operations side of things: -3% match on 401K -Remote/WFH can be lonely; even though there is an office messaging system - it isn't "active" in terms of socializing during the day, per se -US specific: Dealing with customers who speak another language is a difficult process because not any in-house speakers, and the third party translation service is inconsistent in terms of being able to get in contact with them -They say compensation is competitive for the industry and takes in to account cost of living, but it is def a struggle each month to pay bills. I keep a very modest lifestyle in one of the lower cost suburbs of DFW; an effect of COVID unemployment aftermath. I am having to choose each paycheck whether food/ gas/car payment/my Lemonade policy/cell phone get paid OR electricity/water/gas/internet/rent. Electric, rent, and internet are what I need to work, so it wins every time. All other day to day needs are an ongoing stressor and delicate balancing act. It is kind of embarrassing that I cannot consistently pay for the policy with the company that I am employee with - and no, I am not expecting a discount or similar; the premium is reasonable for what coverage I need. Cost of living in one of the hub office cities is def not so much equal to compensation. Benefits and high potential of growth is something that I hope is going to pay off in the long run...and it is the main reason I am sticking with Lemonade.
