Pros

Great products, great people, nice location, and comfortable work atmosphere (as long as sales are good).

Cons

1) Poor business development and new-product definition processes; they have don't know how to collect information to predict opportunities and define new products. They have survived for a long time by going after low-hanging (low risk) fruit and are not motivated to change. 2) Corporate management has taken control of the business and they don't understand it (products vs. contract engineering). They have tied the hands of local management and are running it into the ground. Local management spends too much time servicing their managers rather than running things.

Pros

Well managed all around. Used to be a really good place to work, but since they went public, it's just a good place to work.

Cons

Defence industry, typical feast or famine. Either working over time to tight schedules or nothing to do.

Pros

The only Pro with this company was having every other Friday off.

Cons

Poor leadership and management culture. In my experience, management positions are often filled from a small, long-tenured group, resulting in limited diversity of thought and few opportunities for outside perspectives. Many leaders lacked the skills needed to effectively develop, mentor, and support their teams. Rather than addressing organizational issues, accountability often seemed to flow downward, with lower-level employees bearing the consequences of management decisions. I also observed talented Program Managers leaving or being terminated under circumstances that suggested they were being held responsible for broader organizational problems rather than receiving appropriate leadership support. Overall, the culture discouraged transparency, accountability, and professional growth.
