Pros
Nice students, attractive well-maintained campus, and relatively little political infighting compared to other institutions. VERY low crime rate and excellent police department. The place has kind of a relaxed, friendly feel to it. While a Catholic (Lasallian) University (55% of students are Catholic), LU is not heavy-handed about religion. The University is very tolerant and welcoming to all; it does not push Catholicism or any religion on anybody.
Cons
Students tend to be uninspired, somewhat low-energy, and a bit risk adverse. Could use more diversity. The administration seems well-meaning but vaguely inept. LU is too insulated--not enough academic talks by professors and outsiders beyond Catholic issues. (LU does, however, focus a lot on national and global issues from a Catholic perspective.) Pay is not great and the University has mediocre classroom and learning technology. The institution is clueless about IT security.
