Pros

- Really, really nice people working there - Probably one of the few places in Central Kentucky that can provide stable employment for professionals, especially in technology - Good benefits - Not bad salary - Sharp, highly professional employees

Cons

- A huge chunk (maybe even a majority) of the technical jobs are really "temporary" contractors who are employees in all but name. These contractors are often there for years and years before becoming "permanent" employees. A contractor will receive no promotions, and lousy benefits through the contracting company. Many of these people are promised they will get "real" jobs shortly, but that is just to keep them from quitting. These promises are often made for years. - Managers are usually completely out of touch. They spend all day in meetings. The "team leaders" are the real first level bosses. Higher managers never speak to someone too far down or up the totem pole. - Promotions are based on the department you work in (firmware and color science good, software and hardware bad, for example), or how well you fit into the magic scheme of aa - As someone else has said, the firmware group views people in other technical groups as no better than slime - Let's face it: the company probably can't last in its current size for too many years. The printer business is slowly dying, and Lexmark isn't the best player in the market by a long shot. It's best just to stay away.

Pros

Solid software team working with modern frameworks in the cloud. Products are simple but have complex and unique scaling needs across printer fleets and print release. Great people, even able to make long time friends.

Cons

Leadership is risk adverse. Coming from hardware their release processes can be burdensome and overly cautious. Innovation stagnates due to this but also, layoffs are a common place which creates concern and risks each year.
