Pros

Salary/Benefits are competitive Workload is manageable Type of work feels like your helping your insured Responsive & helpful management Training opportunities and education benefits Due to no longer contributing to the Pension plan they will be increasing their 401K contributions.

Cons

Raises are small & don't keep up with inflation Some departments/roles have limited advancement opportunity Experience is inconsistent between departments. Some value a healthy work/life balance, while in others it's difficult to maintain expected productivity. They will not be contributing to the Pension Plan in 2026. I don't know if the Pension will be available to new hires.

Pros

Liberty Mutual genuinely lives its people-first values. I have real work-life balance and feel trusted and supported by both leadership and my peers. The culture is inclusive - I can bring my full, authentic self to work every day, and the Employee Resource Groups create true community and belonging. The growth opportunities are endless: between internal mobility, Short-Term Assignments (STAs), mentorship programs, and cross-functional projects, I've been able to build new skills and visibility across the enterprise well beyond my core role. The company invests in your development and genuinely wants to see you succeed.

Cons

With so many opportunities, committees, and ERGs to get involved in, it's easy to take on too much. Being intentional about where you focus your time is key to protecting that great work-life balance. It's a large enterprise, so it can take time to learn how to navigate all the resources and pathways available. More centralized visibility into open STAs and mobility opportunities would make them even easier to pursue.

Pros

Good benefits. Generous 401k match

Cons

Started my career at Liberty Mutual as a Workers' Compensation intern. In the beginning, everything was going well. The workload was demanding, but I genuinely enjoyed the job and the work I was doing. One year later, I got promoted to claim adjuster. Things changed after my manager was seriously injured in a car accident. The department director took over managing our team, and the work environment became completely different. She was extremely rude and practiced excessive micromanagement. She expected me not to take any PTO if my work wasn't completely finished, even when I needed time off because my grandmother had suddenly passed away. The constant pressure and lack of empathy took a serious toll on my mental health. I developed depression during that time and eventually had to seek help from a psychologist. In the end, I decided to leave Liberty Mutual. It was one of the best decisions I made for my well-being, and I would not consider returning to the company.
