Pros

It's a prestigious institution Lots of opportunities to attend exhibits, lunchtime lectures, etc. Ability to work independently

Cons

Ugly, depressing office setting (if you work in Madison) Some managers don't let you telework Very inefficient and slow moving Managers are too busy or just don't care to interact with lowly employees (at least in my office, some other managers seem to be better on this.) Always a few steps behind the rest of government in technology, work life balance, etc Very little professional development (ie classes, trainings) compared to other agencies I have worked at Doesn't encourage creativity No money Prestige and "cool factor" isn't enough to balance out all of these administrative problems.
