Pros

Direct Service staff who genuinely care about the work, connections with other like-minded supportive people. A chance to do work that has a positive impact on the community. Union representation for direct service staff.

Cons

Senior leadership has a history of rallying together to ensure management and direct service staff take the fall for poor decision making. In my time at Lifelong there were countless HR investigations into claims of discrimination by senior leadership - but no consequences for any senior staff involved. Staff burnout was pervasive, with inept leadership trickling work down onto everyone below them. Hardest works are "rewarded" with more work, and not recognition or promotion

Pros

-decent pay (for the field...) -orca card -good experience for future employment -diverse employees -union -admirable mission -flexible WFH hybrid options

Cons

-Little to no training or instruction on protocol -complicated management and program structures -open cubicles in the office-- makes it hard to talk on the phone at the same time -almost everyone seems like they are new (either by a few months or a few weeks), has just been promoted into their position, or are leaving. -Something happened here.... not sure what
