Pros
Very friendly coworkers. Wonderful residents.
Cons
Lots more hours than 40/week. Salary isn’t so great when you figure out hourly rate. Even though they have on-call nurses for after hours and weekends, staff report quite often and they are unable to get an answer and they call me anyway. Which they should because no resident should have to wait to get medication or wait on the floor until someone answers or returns a call. Computer I was given was so old it would die when unplugged so I was told a new one had been ordered (many times) . A couple of months went by and I had been using my personal computer. I got tired of waiting and called to see where it was and was then told it had never been ordered. Thankfully, one showed up a couple weeks later. Putting together my own office chair on day one wasn’t the warm Welcome I’d hoped for, but neither was purchasing my own garbage can, and multiple other items. About three weeks after I started, which is about a week after being in the office, I was told I was manager on duty for the weekend. Was given the instructions of “just help if someone needs it” Definitely lacking on guidance Having 60+ hours in my vacation bank taken from me when I left was also a surprise. I was told that I had to “make it a year” in order to keep my PTO. Even though 40 of those hours were part of my original job offer. I had to ask several times to get the new hire bonus offered to me in my job offer - then correct the amount as it was less than half of what they initially offered. Also had to reach out several times to get the 40 hours of PTO included in my job offer. Felt like I was begging to get for what they had agreed to. And now today, after putting my own money out of my paychecks into an FSA account, I went to use it for the first time and in spite of it saying, I have a good amount of money available. My card is being declined. The company for the benefit card shared that my employer Removed, my access to the funds as I had been terminated. The reality is, I have remained on call and wasn’t terminated. Enough is enough, people need to know this stuff happens here.
