Pros
As a current employee of LBA-VB, I would like to let parents and prospective employees know about my experiences working with the Yaegers (owners), Shannon (director), and the LBA franchise for the last year. LBA is my home away from home. It always amazes me how just about every child is known by name throughout the entire building. That is 10 classrooms with 10 children EACH (under Covid-19 rules)! That means the staff care about the kids including those outside of their classroom. If you are a new parent and are concerned about the learning environment your child will be in, LBA-VB has you covered. Staff engage with the kids at an emotional level and often join in on the fun with the weekly learning themes. Don't be surprised if you find a teacher wearing a cowboy hat during Wild West days or teachers dressing like the kids during Opposite week. In each classroom, you will find that the kids become a family within the family at LBA-VB. Friendships are forged that will last for many years. The safety of the children is our top priority at LBA-VB, which is why we know everyone by name. Our goal as teachers is to provide your child with a warm and inviting place to learn and explore while the their parent or guardian is away at work. And I believe LBA-VB excels at that. You won't be disappointed in choosing LBA-VB as your "Solution for Working Families". Prospective staff...if you are looking for a work environment that is supportive and approachable, LBA-VB is your answer. If you want your workplace to be something you enjoy coming to each day, LBA-VB is your answer. We aren't perfect...after all we are human, but we strive for excellence. That is the Lightbridge way. If you have ever felt micromanaged, this is not how LBA-VB works. Admin is open to hearing new ideas and willing to implement as many as possible in accordance with licensing and Corporate. If you want to do something different in your classroom, just ask Admin. If you want to have an ant farm...approved. LBA-VB supports the WHOLE child experience and challenges each teacher to do the same. Sometimes being challenged makes us uncomfortable, but it is about what's in the best interest of the children, and that is paramount at LBA-VB. We as staff get to rise to the occasion and grow as educators. If you are searching for a home and not just a job, then LBA-VB is the place to apply. (Side note...our center has remained open during the entire pandemic where many other local centers were forced to close. The Yaegers are very concerned for their employees as much as they are for the children and their families. This isn't just a business for them. Don't be surprised if you find the owners relieving you for a lunch break or potty break. They are definitely hands-on, involved owners! They just might even teach your class how to juggle or how to eat an Oreo the correct way!) So whether you are a prospective parent looking for quality childcare or a prospective employee looking to earn more than a paycheck... Lightbridge Academy of Virginia Beach is worth a look!
Cons
If you are looking for "Just a Paycheck" please do not apply. Once the staff meets you and the children adjust to your presence, it's like ripping a band-aid off when you leave. When you join LBA-VB you become family immediately so saying goodbye is emotionally taxing. Please have job integrity.
