Pros
*Corporate IT* Structured schedule, you'll always work the same hours. Low stress Slow pace - allows more time for personal development
Cons
*Corporate IT* If you are searching for a high energy, organized, and a learning environment to grow, or start your career Linamar is not your best option. There is a lack of organization and accountability when it comes to work-related tasks and projects, with no repercussions for low performance. Some employees are measured differently than others, meaning some are expected to complete work on time and with management requiring deadlines; while others can simply delay progress on their assignments while collect their pay cheque. The lower performing employees suffer no consequence for missing deadlines and get a pass, regardless of project importance and complaints from colleagues. If you are looking for a job where you can show up, do very little work with low impact, and leave then this might be an environment for you. I found that there were very few colleagues capable of learning from, although this may be different depending on team. Career development is solely your responsibility and only a select few employees will receive any funding for training/education. I found that many of the new, exciting, and challenging ideas were championed by the newer (< 5 years) employees but would receive no traction from management and heavy resistance from senior employees for various reasons; mainly due to an increase in accountability. So it is discouraging to know new ideas won't be embraced and colleagues are comfortable improving the culture as little as possible. Lastly, it was evident that those receiving highly visible promotions were more outspoken and theatrical with their verbiage rather than being the subject matter expert. Routinely a question would be posed to them, or their work would indicate they lacked even a high level understanding of their discipline. There are many employees who play the corporate game and are rewarded for it, so be aware if you do choose to accept a position as it can lead to some frustrating situations. Other notes: -No flexibility in regards to work hours, you work what the plant hours will be. -Typically lower wages across various departments -Lackluster benefits
