Pros
I have worked at Lionbridge in Tampere for many years, and I enjoyed interacting with my wonderful colleagues. They were mostly students from all over the world. I learned a lot about different and diverse cultures. They all had their own way of doing things and their own lovely quirks. It wasn't the work, but my colleagues who kept me coming into the office with pleasure every morning.
Cons
Although my colleagues were wondeful, management was not so. I constantly had the feeling that they didn't really know what they were doing. Sometimes I was amazed that clients had not chosen other providers but that they continued working with us. I have heard, read and seen management lie to clients, I have seen them use google translate to get translations and then let us natives quickly double check for corectness. The clients could have done that themself instead of having to pay Lionbridge Tampere for very bad work. When I mentioned this to my supervisor, I was lied to and no longer booked for work unless they really needed me for something that no one else could do. Instead of fixing problems they are the masters of hiding problems from others and the clients. I never felt like I was part of a team, I felt like I was just a tool and nothing else. A tool in someone elses lieing game. Once I had menstrual cramps and could not come to work. I was told by management to get a grip on my problem or they would not book me anymore. After that I have had a bad taste in my mouth.
