Pros

Many people truly care about the work and most are approachable and friendly. You can learn a lot here if you are new to community development but should probably think sbout leaving after 2 years.

Cons

Where to begin? - Your experience depends on your local office, so it really just comes down to the ED at each office. There is little accountability there. - No consistency in job descriptions. An APO in one local office may be doing the work of a PO in another office. A PO might be doing the work of an SPO in another office. -Little to no room for professional growth or advancement. Performance reviews don't mean anything here. Again, depends on the whims of the local ED. Instead of investing in their employees, offices are constantly wasting funds in hiring expensive consultants. -Ongoing tension between local offices and national staff. National staff can be condescending and unresponsive. Very bureaucratic and inefficient systems. -Toxic HR staff that have been known to intimidate employees, even those in senior roles. Nothing seems to be done about this. -Lip service to DEIJ. There was a strong start to some DEIJ initiatives, but it seems to have been shut down, esp after Maurice Jones left. -People are overworked and sending emails at all hours of the day and night. Very poor work/life balance.
