Pros

Decent pay (but see issues below), beautiful campus

Cons

Upper administration treats faculty and staff horribly. I was there for 8 years, and during that time, my department was merged, reorganized, etc., four times. We went through as many department heads, with multiple semesters of having no department head. The dean of the school, my department is part of, changed three times, with at least half a semester with no dean and no department head. Their response to COVID was horrendous - we had to be back teaching 100% in person in the fall of 2020! They sent out a new set of rules that had multiple contradictions and some parts that were too vague to understand, and refused to give any explanations or clarification to them. I only ever contracted COIVD once so far, and it was from working there. Their communication is horrible - there is no notification of things like deans and department heads coming/going, departmental office and dean office location changes, road closures, building closures, etc. They also, for some reason, like to block off handicapped parking for 'VIP' spots - which I'd think is against state and county laws. They short-change adjunct pay - if we teach a 3-hour/week lab, they will only pay us for 1 hour/week, which is why it is so hard to get anyone to teach lab courses anymore. They ignore written policies and contracts, and they tell you it is your fault if you don't know they follow a different procedure than what is in our contracts and CBAs. Also, the adjunct union there is too weak to have any effect at all. It is sad. In my 8 years there, I had seen many full-time and adjunct faculty leave, telling me how the school has progressively gone downhill since LIU took over (It used to be C.W. Post)

Pros

Always something new to learn.

Cons

Working here became increasingly frustrating because expectations often changed without notice and communication was inconsistent.
