Pros

- you’re surrounded by passionate people who are experts in their fields. - relatedly, it’s accessible to pick up new skills from coworkers. - passionate people are also typically problem solvers; the company as a whole benefits thanks to the passion workers themselves put into their work, workplace, coworkers, and the system itself. The pro is both the company benefiting and the camaraderie.

Cons

- leadership is out of touch and suffers from an obsession with shiny objects. Follow-through is accidental or because someone further down fought eloquently enough for it. - multiple redundant teams often doing redundant work can be frustrating, especially when shared knowledge is so useful. - a functioning product seems to have been the end goal instead of the bare minimum.

Pros

The management was supportive and responsive. I never had any issues.

Cons

It is a far commute for those who are remote and need to work in the office.

Pros

Good focus on long-form writing and journalism; lots of lovely people worked here and there was a nice community outside of the office; felt like a legit civic institution that people in L.A. care about.

Cons

Uneven management with unclear long-term priorities and conflicting top-down mandates. Not very willing to collaborate with the union.
