Pros

Working as a Product Manager at the Los Angeles Times means being part of a respected institution and a talented team. Experimentation is welcomed, the work environment is a blend of journalism and technology, and work-life balance is decent.

Cons

The pace of product development can be sluggish compared to tech-centric companies. The constant transition of the organization can lead to unforeseen changes, and cross-department collaboration can be challenging. Career advancement opportunities within the product management team seem limited.

Pros

The management was supportive and responsive. I never had any issues.

Cons

It is a far commute for those who are remote and need to work in the office.

Pros

Good focus on long-form writing and journalism; lots of lovely people worked here and there was a nice community outside of the office; felt like a legit civic institution that people in L.A. care about.

Cons

Uneven management with unclear long-term priorities and conflicting top-down mandates. Not very willing to collaborate with the union.
