Literally the WORST job experience I ever had. I’d pay them money to let me quit! - Assortment Planner Lowe's Home Improvement Employee Review

Pros

10% Bonus (twice/year), decent pay

Cons

Let’s Talk About It! To start, I spent the first eight months working on a “special project” that was not apart of my job duties nor what I signed on to do when hired. Majority of the work that fell into Assortment Planning was not an AP job. It was usually a store planning or supply chain job but they want more “competent/able-bodied” people to complete the tasks. There’s No work life balance; they expect you to work 13+ hours/day and weekends for some “initiative” that’s never ending. They promise you a bonus and don’t deliver. I was promised a bonus for working on this special project and my manager hadto apologize because he couldn’t follow through with it. They Only give you two holidays off (thanksgiving and Christmas) Any other holiday, you have to use your own PTO. Relocation terms (they will gross up the relocation fee in order to instill fear in you that you won’t leave before 18 months). Of the team I worked on, in less than a year more than half the team had left or moved into another department! Management was the worst I ever experienced, training was essentially non existent and communication lacked significantly. And if you leave before 18 months, they won’t mention that you’ll owe a relocation fee in your exit interview. They know the job is trash and this is how they recoup losing associates left and right. People on my team were having meetings with HR almost every week to talk about how unacceptable things were happening on the team and HR never did anything to amend the situation. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the time, heartache, and depression and DO NOT ACCEPT a job offer here. The pay is not worth it. Trust Me.

Pros

Some amazing customers and coworkers. Tasks and systems were easy to learn. Sometimes you get lucky and have amazing ASMs and SMs. It's easy to get a good survey when you treat customers like friends, be honest about what you do and don't know, and work to learn what you don't. That goes a long way with customers. I personally truly loved my job and loved spending as much time as I could at work.

Cons

Once you are on someones S*** List they will make it possible to get rid of you. Management only follows policy when it benefits them. Some people get promoted when they have no business working in retail as a leader. The A/C in the store I worked in was always broken during the summer, which made it miserable to work. Some customers are entitled due to they way management will kiss their butts to keep from losing a sale or getting a bad review. Management will make a paper trail to write you up if you mess up or are struggling instead of helping you better yourself. Management does not care about employees' work-life balance. Management does not care if their employees are struggling with personal issues like car troubles, health issues, financial issues, etc. Management will get rid of great employees but keep people who don't pull their weight. Once I hit burnout, instead of helping me, I was punished by my managers. In turn making me hate a job I truly loved.
