Pros

The cafeteria makes some tasty food.

Cons

Where to begin... First and foremost - the amount of work that is expected from each processor is absolutely absurd, and borderline inhumane. The company constantly preaches that they are 'optimizing' home-ownership, but they honestly don't have the first clue about how to successfully run a mortgage lending business. Each processor is responsible for a minimum of 20 loans at any given time - often times exceeding that. There was a not a single day that I was not completely barraged by phone calls and emails from irate customers and colleagues, simply because 1 person is incapable of handling such a large amount of work on their own. Whenever concerns were brought to managements attention, I was always met with the same response; "Hang in there." Talk about support. Secondly, and maybe most importantly, almost everyone is hired with absolutely zero experience in the mortgage industry. This includes management. Sales is another beast entirely. Fueled by White Claw and whey protein, you can fully expect the following question daily from Loan Advisors after they've spent weeks doing nothing on the files you're both assigned to: "The borrower is reaching out to me for an update. Could you please give them a call?" Upper management explicitly laid out the worst possible policy in recent months: let sales focus on driving in new business. The processor is the main point of contact. Processors are now responsible for doing literally 100% of the work on every loan. Management even recently had processors begin discussing rates and pricing with borrowers. Please note that processors are not NMLS licensed, and do not have the authority to discuss such matters. The benefits are a joke. The 401k match is comical. You will have no sick time off. The payroll schedule is terrible. When you start at the company, you will not receive your first check for an entire month. I hope you like bread crumbs and ramen noodles. Additionally, and this is not exclusive to Lower, but they have the power to change it - getting paid semi-monthly is awful. Payday is all over the place. In conclusion, just don't. There are millions of other, better companies to work for. This one is not it.
