Pros

Statewide education law firm with established, industry leading attorneys.

Cons

The firm has very few clients in Southern California and doesn't put effort into expanding its Southern California presence. Employees in the San Diego office are neglected and serve as remote support for the firm's Fresno and Northern California offices, with little to no oversight or direction. Forced to choose between working in practice areas hired for and not making hours or working in multiple practice areas you may not be comfortable in. Management ignores you when asked for help.

Pros

Support staff is friendly and ready to help. Lots of snacks. Pay and benefits are competitive.

Cons

Partners and Senior Counsel actively bully and harass younger/new staff. Partners and Senior Counsel rarely come to the office. Associates are required to be on site. New hires are not given on-the-job training and instead are told to complete training on their own/off the clock. Partners apply rules differently to people they like. Partners gossip about attorneys in office. Upward mobility is very restricted and heavily based on company politics. Work-life balance does not exist; you're paid a lot to work a lot. Partners do not address allegations of bullying or workplace harassment. Partners and Senior Counsel selectively give work to Associates they like, making it difficult to meet billable requirements. Practice areas may be selected for attorneys based on what the managing partner wants. There is no support group or team for newer Attorneys. Partners and Senior Counsel do not take mentoring seriously. HIGH TURNOVER. Little to no feedback on work product. Not a diverse company. Not supportive of mental health issues. Many of the attorneys do not treat support staff with respect.
