Pros
The benefits are still good at Lucid, even after the layoff and the reduction of benefits. The health plan is very reasonably priced and the coverage is good. The people you work with are generally amazing people. You get to actually stretch your creative brain and work on some very interesting, exciting, stimulating projects.
Cons
The review requirements at mid year and end of year are too vague to hold anyone to any standard beyond the entirely subjective opinion of your manager. It does not matter what your scrum team thinks of you if you are doing a good job and completing work on time and to an acceptable degree. It only matters what your manager considers. It is dependant on how well you are able to brag about yourself (which I understand is the plight of many companies). They also do not care if you are meeting expectations. If you are meeting expectations, be prepared to be put on a performance improvement plan. They expect you to work above your pay grade consistently. If you do not regularly get a promotion, expect to be put on a PIP. If you burn out, expect to be put on a PIP when you pull back on responsibilities in order to recover (even at the encouragement of management). As much as they boast about caring about your mental health, they only care as long as they don't have to actually care about it. I realize this review may seem bitter. Please know that I would still recommend this company over any I've worked at previously. The right manager will make your experience here magical. The wrong one will ruin your life and blame you for it.
