This job should be straightforward, but constant changes from upper management and a lack of consistency make it unnecessarily difficult. Priorities shift frequently—what we’re focusing on, how we’re expected to sell, and even who to turn to for support. Just as you adapt to one process, it’s changed again.
The company places a heavy emphasis on revenue, often at the expense of employee support and retention. Pricing is high compared to the actual cost of products, yet employees are not compensated in a way that reflects the revenue they generate. As a Sales Rep, I consistently brought in revenue equal to—or exceeding—my annual salary on a monthly basis.
High pricing also creates challenges with customers. For example, shoe rentals are priced at a level that many guests push back on, despite the relatively low cost of the product itself. This makes selling more difficult, yet frontline employees are often blamed when guests hesitate.
The commission structure was changed in an effort to drive revenue, but with already elevated pricing, it became harder to sell even basic lane reservations, let alone full events with food. The 21% event fee is especially frustrating, as a portion of this previously went to event servers as gratuity and now goes directly to the company, impacting both staff morale and guest perception.
On-site teams are frequently understaffed and overextended, leading to high turnover at the center level. There is also little cross-training between sales and on-site teams, which can result in miscommunication and frustration on both sides. Sales reps are trained to sell events, but not fully on how they are executed, leaving on-site teams to fill in the gaps without adequate information.
I once genuinely enjoyed working for this company, but over the past few years the culture has declined. Job security concerns at the management level and a lack of focus on work-life balance have taken a noticeable toll.
Overall, I would not recommend this company as an employer. It may be a fit for those comfortable working in a highly numbers-driven environment, but those looking for stability, collaboration, and employee-focused leadership may want to look elsewhere.
