Pros
Great work / life balance and flexibility, FTO, opportunities to get in front of senior executives and present projects etc., ability to shine with objective metrics that no one can take away from you or be subjective about. I generally see management reward high performers, not sure average or low performers are aggressively rooted out in all departments. Generally good to great people to work with that will happily explain anything to you when asked. Compensation seems good but not excessively great. New management is definitely making inroads to change the legacy CTL mindset of "We've always done it that way." More questions are being asked, more financials are being scrutinized as to whether certain endeavors are driving EBITDA and financial metrics. Many have been negative towards this change, but I think it healthy and necessary.
Cons
Highly political corporate america environment cannot be avoided where one's reputation can be tarnished if the right bug is put in the right executive's ear. Human Resources seems to think they are the decision makers as to hiring decisions, promotions and comp changes. There is usually little to no documented process as to how go about these things, but then the goal line will move 5-10 times as to the next form to be filled out or another approval to get that speaks to a non-existent process or procedure. Arbitrary at best. HR needs to focus on basic execution of their scope, such as onboarding new employees (a computer for the new employee on their first day consistently would be a great start), payroll etc. that seems to go awry far too often.
