Pros
Good pay with opportunity for growth in most areas. People care about the plant and want it to succeed more so than management does (In my opinon). For most employees, this is not just a job, but a way of life, a career. A family environment. Reasonable work schedules most of the time. You do what you have to do to be successful.
Cons
It used to be that Lyondell believed in a chart detailing the ESSENTIAL ELEMENTS for the company. Three of the main portions are: Superior Performance, Empowering People and Social Responsibility. It seems to me that many of these topics are no longer desired by management, especially under the "Empowering People" section. LBI management has changed the basic tenents of being an employee. People are scared to take actions that result in ANY risk to the unit. But without a controlled risk, growth of the company cannot occur. This is a delima. Mistakes are viewed as a ticket home and are not tolerated. When you work at LBI, leave your human self at home and never make an error to be successful.
