Pros

Exposure to proposals, engineering, government contracting for young professionals. Met *a few* genuinely kind and smart people. Some chances for remote/flexible work but with disorganized proposal procedures, rushed submissions and often unresponsive contributors, good luck taking advantage of that or even freely using your PTO.

Cons

Where do I start? 1. Benefits are subpar, particularly the 401k matching. 2. Though annual raises can be substantial, pay is still lower than the competitors. 3. The proposal team often works directly with CEO Bill Dean. A simple Google search reveals a lot about his character, values and uncontrollable ego. He openly yells and disrespects his employees. It seems like he only sees them as the little people who bankroll his yacht, personal driver, private jet, Miami mansion, Georgetown mansion, questionable social life, etc. 4. It's not a great place for new grads to start their career. The ratio of inexperienced new grads to senior proposal managers is unacceptable. Senior proposal managers are stretched thin and expected to support hordes of new grads in addition to their proposal duties. Insufficient training equals miscommunication, sloppy proposals, uneven workloads, etc. Supervisors seem to be too insecure or prideful to accept feedback, unfortunately. 5. Long hours, late night calls/emails, and weekend work are expected. It's especially frustrating because if the proposal process was better organized, a lot of those extra hours could be avoided. It's also like pulling teeth to get fellow employees to prioritize and respond to the proposal team's requests for information. 6. M.C. Dean management is predominantly straight white males who love "locker room talk." It's 2020 and nobody has time for any this.
