Pros

Was reviewing some job postings here on glass door and couldnt help but read the comments for and against MAT. I usually don't write reviews but I just wanted to put in my 2 cents. I love working here at MAT, imagine working at an office that is surrounded by beautiful ponds, farms, horses and ducks. Yep thats were I work, except for the parking lot view(unavoidable lol) every window you look out of hints at no sign of a typical industrial park. We are located in beautiful long grove, hidden amongst the many farms and subdivisions that occupy this lovely area. Although I'd love to have an outer office with a great window view, its nice to be able to enjoy the walks around the building in the summer with horses so close you can reach out and pet them anytime. Well enough of the view, the office itself as some posted may be an older building, it was originally a ducks unlimited headquarters but its solid and has lots of character, to date I've seen no spiders but it wouldnt surprise me if there are a few lurking around in the basement lol. The office was freshly renovated about 6 years ago and not much has changed, of course not a lot can change when its mostly cubicles, I mean what do people expect the taj mahal? Its a place to work not to get a massage and a steak, although that would be nice too! I think MAT gets a bad rap sometimes because of turn over, well typically the reason most people leave is because they have learned quite a bit at MAT and are ready to move on to bigger and better things. I dont think that its because of managment or the building or the water, its just that for many people its a jumping off point for the rest of their careers. Many of the current and past employees have had their kids come in to work to intern during the summer months, what a great opportunity for those young ones and a great way to build your job history as a high school or college student. Benefits are great, yes I wish they didnt cost and arm and a leg, but.....you can always get insurance elsewhere.....obamacare anyone? 401K is awesome, the company contributes a large amount towards your contribuition. HR is great, very helpful and is growing with the company, they have been implementing new systems as the Company grows in order to make things easier for everyone. Ahh so much more to write but my fingers are getting tired, I guess that means not to many cons to write.....

Cons

Ok I must admit the water might not be perfectly clear and its more on what we would call the hard side, but like most of the homes and business in Long Grove we have well water, its typical of the area, and although I've used the water for soup and coffee, I usually bring a bottle of water with me cause I'm spoiled. I dont think the water should be a reason to not want to work here lol. Everyone says salary is low, well I'm just happy to have a job, I've worked my way up at MAT and I feel the salary level is fair, of course we'd all like to make more money. I say if you didnt like the salary they offered then why did you accept the job? Yes we do close locations(very very rare) but it happens with lots of companies sometimes you have to consolidate and reorganize, you really cant blame them for that. I've been layed off and let go before its just part of life, you suck it up and move on, the company is in business to make a profit sometimes hard decisions have to be made, its life.
