Pros

- Funding, especially for a masters program - Great location - Huge resources in terms of networking and money, you will be working with smart people that will be ending up in amazing positions across all disciplines, and MIT will pay for you to do most things if you learn how to use the system - I've found many people that break the stereotype of antisocial nerds, instead you get to go have a beer with smart people who will tell you why you should care about cyber security, climate change

Cons

- Very independent working environment - Advisors are VERY different, so experience is very defined by how well you choose an advisor. Advice would be to figure out what things you need to thrive and intentionally go find that in an advisor.

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Cons

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
