Pros

There are so many variables! Depends on who you teach for, which department, your fellowship etc. However MIT as a whole is a fantastic place. Lots of opportunities and also as of recent, a unionized entity. The people you work with will determine your work environment. The students are fantastically hardworking. The undergrads at MIT are known to be intense as one can imagine

Cons

You will miss it when you are gone. The resources are nice to have but you wont have them for long. As a teaching assistant you often end up doing a lot of the teaching but arent necessarily compensated as such. Its fun but can take away a decent bit of time from your own research.

Pros

Fantastic work-life balance and lots of freebies. Join the sailing program! They teach you for free!

Cons

Got hit by the federal cuts. Not their fault but you would think they'd have better savings

Pros

High quality core facilities and well resourced labs. Countless brilliant colleagues who can serve as mentors and collaborators

Cons

Students and Postdocs are expensive due to high overhead, so unreasonably high productivity is often expected compared to other institutions. PIs are typically stretched very thin. Most departments/labs are very space limited which makes it harder to do safe and productive research.
