Pros

- Generous 401k match after 1 year

Cons

- Hemorrhaging headcount. Indiscriminate firing of ~3,500 employees between January and December 2025 because their sole customer (the US Government) doesn't see value in FFRDCs. - Government is largely correct in their assessment that MITRE is overpriced for the low-impact, policy paper and systems engineering work that it primarily does. - Completely tone-deaf leadership. CEO waddles out in a gee-whiz, howdy-doody impression during all-hands every other month before announcing another round of layoffs. Board member bizarrely recited poetry and cried during an all-hands. Senior VPs regularly send emails to 1,000s of employees boasting about their frequent travel to Hawaii and Europe while lamenting 100s of people losing their jobs over the same period. - No plan or vision to adapt to reality.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at MITRE. The people here are incredibly intelligent, collaborative, and mission-focused. There is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and I’ve enjoyed learning from so many talented coworkers across the organization. The Talent Acquisition leadership team has been outstanding. Alicia, Rachel, Manda, and Mindy have created a supportive and empowering environment, and they genuinely care about their teams and the candidate experience. Their leadership, accessibility, and willingness to invest in others make a real difference. MITRE offers meaningful work, a healthy work-life balance, and opportunities to continue growing professionally.

Cons

As with any large organization, processes can sometimes move slowly, and navigating a matrixed environment may take time. However, the collaborative culture and supportive leadership help make these challenges manageable.
