Pros

People are the best part of MITRE

Cons

Department Managers bow down to the mission managers. Mission managers control the work. If you work for a department and have a dispute with the mission folks, don't expect your department manager to spend time to get to the root of the dispute. He/she may not be willing to stand up for you. Little "true" teamwork. Most people are focused on making themselves look good and getting a 1 or 2 rating which will result in a pay raise and eventual promotion.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at MITRE. The people here are incredibly intelligent, collaborative, and mission-focused. There is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and I’ve enjoyed learning from so many talented coworkers across the organization. The Talent Acquisition leadership team has been outstanding. Alicia, Rachel, Manda, and Mindy have created a supportive and empowering environment, and they genuinely care about their teams and the candidate experience. Their leadership, accessibility, and willingness to invest in others make a real difference. MITRE offers meaningful work, a healthy work-life balance, and opportunities to continue growing professionally.

Cons

As with any large organization, processes can sometimes move slowly, and navigating a matrixed environment may take time. However, the collaborative culture and supportive leadership help make these challenges manageable.
