Previously stagnant and inward-focused. Now hyperkinetic, chaotic and inward-focused. - Systems Engineering and Program Management MITRE Employee Review

Pros

I worked with several top notch people, capable both technically and in leadership, before they left and I left.

Cons

It does not appear from the evidence that the Directors/SVPs and Board have ever run an actual business that had to sell a product. Company resembles a fighter plane throwing chaff, lest the adversaries get a clean shot. Difficult to fix a company with this much dysfunction by quadrupling the executive staff while contract revenue is static at best. That creates chaos, gossip, and jockeying for position from the executive staff on down. Bloating the number of execs is a time-honored tactic for companies on the way down: CEO brings on cronies to serve as tight ends, or upon whom to deflect blame. They're paid well enough that it is immaterial, comes with the territory. Mission focus is lost. Since one of the Board jobs is to bring in business, they don't seem to be doing too well at that, either.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at MITRE. The people here are incredibly intelligent, collaborative, and mission-focused. There is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and I’ve enjoyed learning from so many talented coworkers across the organization. The Talent Acquisition leadership team has been outstanding. Alicia, Rachel, Manda, and Mindy have created a supportive and empowering environment, and they genuinely care about their teams and the candidate experience. Their leadership, accessibility, and willingness to invest in others make a real difference. MITRE offers meaningful work, a healthy work-life balance, and opportunities to continue growing professionally.

Cons

As with any large organization, processes can sometimes move slowly, and navigating a matrixed environment may take time. However, the collaborative culture and supportive leadership help make these challenges manageable.
